ABOUT US
We come from a resilient Somali-Bantu community shaped by hardship, perseverance, and strength. Many of our families fled war, famine, and instability in search of safety and opportunity. As children of refugee families, we witnessed firsthand the challenges of growing up with limited access to resources, education, and opportunity. Yet through it all, our parents and elders instilled in us something powerful: resilience, determination, and the belief that we could create a better future.
Our journey has evolved from overcoming adversity to becoming leaders within our communities. While our roots began in athletics, we quickly recognized that our youth needed more than just sports; they needed mentorship, academic support, guidance, and safe spaces to grow. Neighborhood Athletics was created to meet that need.
We now serve youth and families across Columbus, Ohio, many of whom face ongoing challenges such as poverty, limited access to resources, and unsafe environments. This work is deeply personal to us; We are part of it.
What started as a passion to give back has grown into a mission to transform lives. Today, we are building programs, forming partnerships, and securing resources through grants and community support to create lasting, measurable impacts.
We are not just helping youth play; we are helping them grow, lead, and succeed.
Our mission is to empower youth in the communities through sports, education, mentorship, and wellness programs.
We provide safe, structured environments where young people can develop confidence, discipline, leadership skills, and a strong sense of purpose. By combining athletics with academic support and social-emotional learning, we equip youth with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.

Our Vision
Our vision is to create equitable opportunities for all youth, regardless of background, to grow, lead, and reach their full potential.
We envision communities where young people have access to safe spaces, strong mentorship, and the resources needed to thrive academically, physically, and emotionally. Through collaboration, innovation, and community investment, we aim to build a future where every child has the support and opportunity to succeed.
